"I am so privileged to spread Willis legend, to transcribe the tales from his own diary, his notes and his anecdotes. These memoirs that Willi wrote immediately after the war are a rare treasure. He brought them to his new homeland, Canada. Willi sacrificed his youth and his health for his fatherland. He was a dynamic role model for his fellow soldiers. They admired his spirit and great courage. He saved the lives of his family and his comrades-in-arms when he was only 21 years old. Willis diary was kept in a safe for almost 60 years, when I rediscovered it. Every chapter is a true story, how it really happened. Willis gripping tale, with all its horrors, must be told to the world. Thank you for these great memories, Willi, my beloved husband." Michelle Kaiser - January 2006 | About the Author Michelle Kaiser was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1934. At the age of five she lost her mother to cancer. When she was ten her father fell into a deep mountain gorge. His body was never found. During WWII she was sent to live in the Salzkammergut Lake district in Upper Austria. Her family's home and business were bombed in 1944. When the war was over, she and her younger sister lived with her father's brother in Salzburg. She endured a torturous life and suffered near-paralyzing injuries to her spine. As soon as she reached her age of majority she immigrated to Canada and later became a Canadian citizen. On the third day in her new country, under miraculous circumstances, she met her husband-to-be. They have been blessed with two beautiful children. Michelle's spine eventually collapsed and was surgically repaired. She became an architectural designer. While searching for legal documents in a safe, she found her husband's war diary. After reading it, she believed that it was important that she share with the world his ordeal at the Russian Front, his adventures as a foreign agent, and his experience during Hamburg's Gomorrah.
